Also known as the Springfield model of 1871, this Remington Rolling Block was produced as a service rifle from 1871 to 1872. In this GunTec presentation Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA, examines a model 1871 rolling block rifle made in 1872. This model, chambered in 50-70 government, features a 36 inch barrel, straight grip stock, a ladder type rear sight and small blade front sight. In the two years Remington produced the model 1871 only about 10,000 guns were made.
